Kevin McCloud's Crowdfunding Campaign surpasses £1m target
Hab Housing has surpassed its investment target, securing over £1.4m via crowdfunding website Crowdcube to grow and expand its business. The £1.449m raised to date has been invested by more than 500 individuals pledging amounts ranging from £100 to £150,000. The company plans to invest in growth and to move into the Custom Build housing market, and aims to offer investors a 5% dividend by the end of 2016. Hab will continue to pursue funding up to a pre-set cap of £2m, extending their initial closing date from August 24th until September 29th to accommodate a surge in investor interest.
OVIVO overfunds to take Crowdcube's total to £10,162,060. Exeter-based Crowdcube became the first equity crowdfunding platform in the world to raise £10,162,060 for small businesses. Lending to British small businesses by over-cautious banks has shrunk since the banking crash of 2007/8, while Crowdcube has seen phenomenal growth in the amount of finance it has raised since its launch in 2011, proving that there is still a huge appetite for finance among start-up firms and other early-stage small businesses.
One of the world's largest equity crowdfunding platforms, Crowdcube, has appointed professional and financial services provider Smith & Williamson to be its full service accountancy and tax advisors. Founded in 2011 by Darren Westlake and Luke Lang, the London-based crowdfunding service listed in the 2012 Startups 100 offers businesses and investors an alternative means of funding and has so far helped over 60 businesses to secure in excess of £9m.
