London Business Angels top investor network in the UK for first half of 2013

Following London Business Angel's (LBA) recent success at the Investor AllStars Awards where it was awarded UK Private Investor Network of the year for 2013, a recent report by the independent data and research organisation, UKFunders, indicated that LBA was the most active investor network/VC in the U.K, in the first half of 2013.

In this period, LBA completed 9 Technology deals in a range of sectors from digital photography, to water leak detection and nasogastric feeding tubes. The size of the deals ranged from £150k up to £2.1m.

Eagle Genomics completes first fundraising

Today, Eagle Genomics, the expert provider of bioinformatics software and services across a wide range of life science and other sectors, has announced the final closing of a £1 million fundraising, as it continues to expand and develop new bioinformatics products. Eagle uses advanced computing to answer complex biological problems, from fighting cancer to breeding better crops.

This second round was led by members of London Business Angels, with further support from the Angel CoFund and first round investor, Jonathan Milner (CEO of Abcam) is addition to the £590k invested in September and brings the total raised to £1 million.

Contego secures £900k of growth funding

London Business Angels investors, Angel CoFund, Rainbow Seed Fund and others invest in risk management solutions company

Contego Fraud Solutions, the rapidly growing Oxfordshire-based risk management software company, has announced that they have raised £900k in their latest investment round, following early investment in 2012 by seed angels and the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund, making the total raised to date £1.4m. Investment has been secured from a syndicate of London Business Angel Investors (including an investment by the LBA EIS Roundtable Synidcate Fund 2013), the Rainbow Seed Fund; the Angel CoFund and other investors. Matt Slatter and Howard Sarna, experienced angel investors, have both invested and will join the Board.
